Brian Shipley is a public affairs leader with over 30 years of experience working in the Oregon State Capitol. Most recently, as system vice president for legal and government affairs at PeaceHealth, he built a successful federal, state, and local government relations program spanning three states while directing the legal department.
Brian previously served in top leadership positions in Oregon state government. As chief of staff to Governor Kate Brown, he led the historic transition of administrations after the former governor suddenly resigned and is one of few staff members to work at the executive level for three successive governors. He also served in roles such as Deputy Secretary of State, director of legislation to the Senate President, chief of staff to the Senate Majority Leader, and as legislative assistant to two members of the House of Representatives. Brian completed other stints in the private sector, directing public affairs for Oregon Health & Science University and a sustainable forestry fund, and served on the boards of directors for Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon, CCO Oregon, and Oregon Business & Industry. He is also a former volunteer instructor for the International Debate Education Association.
A faithful direct descendent of Oregon Trail pioneers, Brian graduated from Willamette University with a bachelor’s degree in politics and environmental science and earned his law degree from Georgetown University.
