Michael Allen Harrison in concert in the House Chamber at the Capitol

Michael Allen Harrison made history by performing the first ever full-length concert in the Oregon House chamber on Nov. 3, 2017.

About the piano

The Steinway and Sons piano Michael played is a gift to the Oregon State Capitol House Chamber made possible thanks to the efforts of the Oregon State Capitol Foundation board of directors, the generosity of Portland Piano Company and donors like you.

House of Representatives New Piano

The piano was delivered to the House chamber before the start of the 2017 session. Meiling Larson christened the new piano on the opening day of the 2017 Legislative Session performing her original composition “Beautiful Oregon”.

Regarding the new addition to the House chamber, House Speaker Tina Kotek said, “Since 2001, the Oregon Capitol Foundation has been a bedrock in maintaining and sustaining the treasure that is the Oregon State Capitol. This thoughtful gift will advance this goal for generations to come.

On June 29, 2017, a piano was delivered to the Oregon State Senate chamber floor. A letter of appreciation from President of the Senate Peter Courtney and Secretary of the Senate Lori Brocker states, “The rich patina of the piano blends in beautifully and is a wonderful enhancement to our beloved chamber.

The Oregon State Capitol Foundation takes your investment in our work very seriously. With your support, we will continue to accomplish important milestones benefiting the thousands of people who visit our beloved Capitol every year.
